Remember when your New Year’s Resolutions looked like this?
- Run a marathon
- Read a book a month
- Make more money than I spend
If you’re a typical senior, that list is starting to look more like this:
- Get out of the chair on the first try
- Remember what I was looking for
- Pay my healthcare bills
A senior’s main concerns are typically physical, mental, and financial health. Let us help you with some practical New Year’s Resolutions:
Join the Silver Sneakers
No matter your level of ability, certified instructors at several fitness facilities throughout the Knoxville area provide classes at no cost through Medicare providers! Classes are available both in person and online. (Visit SilverSneakers.com or call 888-423-4623 to find out more.)
Take a Free Class
Under state law, a person 65 and older can take courses for credit at state-supported colleges and universities and not have to pay tuition charges, maintenance fees, student activity fees or registration fees. So consider a class in something you’ve always wanted to study at the University of Tennessee or Pellissippi State Community College! (For more information, contact Peggy Love at UT plove1@utk.edu or PSTCC at businessoffice@pstcc.edu.)
Understand Your Medicare Benefits
It’s your #1 financial concern now, so take time to understand it! Schedule an appointment either by phone or in person with an expert who can help explain how to best take advantage of all that is provided. Your local Office on Aging is a great place to start. (Visit knoxseniors.org/medicare for their Senior Services directory. It contains every contact you need to get your benefit questions answered!)
All of us at Parkview Senior Living wish you a blessed 2022 and are available to help you in any way to make your New Year’s Resolutions a reality!
