Do you remember starting kindergarten… or high school…. or college for that matter?! You were SO nervous about remembering your lunchbox or locker combo, or whether or not you would make new friends quickly.
Each one of the staff members at Parkview Senior Living remembers those days all too well. The fact is, they still have those “first days” (as well all do) every time they relocate or explore a new experience! As a result, they have developed the “New Resident Orientation” program to help eliminate the fears and apprehension of our new residents!
Each Parkview facility has produced a “New Resident Orientation” presentation that is unique to its own community. It includes pictures of current staff members, so new friends are familiar faces even before first meeting. It also includes videos of how to get in and out of our doors, as well as instructions on using the phones in their apartments.
We have lots of activities for our Parkview residents! Our orientation teaches residents where to find those activities listed and how to sign up. Everything from housekeeping, laundry, meals, to home maintenance is covered. And most important, what happens if there is an emergency, and they need someone’s assistance? Every step in that process is spelled out so our residents always feel safe and secure.
Probably most helpful of all, our “New Resident Orientation” always includes a time of Q&A where individuals are welcome to discuss any subject they may have about living in their chosen Parkview community. Each resident has a voice, and it is a very comfortable setting where literally everyone in attendance is “the new kid!”
Our Parkview residents are our family, and we at Parkview do all that we can to make every family member feel welcome and comfortable. Transition is challenging to all of us, and we’re eager to fight these challenges together.
