Before you book that flight or fill up the gas tank, here are a few things to consider as you plan to visit your beloved elderly family member or friend this holiday season:
- Call ahead. Call a month ahead, call a week ahead, call a day ahead. Because pandemic guidelines are constantly changing, know the necessary precautions that are in place to save time and possible frustration at the door.
- Knock on the door. It’s so essential that your loved one knows you respect his or her room as their home. This simple act can mean the difference in a resident feeling like they are a guest in a living facility or the homeowner so to speak. At Parkview Senior Living, it’s important to us and to our residents that they take pride and ownership of their places!
- Here at Parkview, we take great care to ensure that our residents have plenty of opportunities to celebrate this season! Contact the local Activity Director and plan to visit during one (or several!) of those special concerts, meals, or other holiday events. Everyone loves to enjoy these events with family and friends!
- For those residents who deeply love but are no longer able to care for their beloved pet, dress it up and bring it in for a visit at holiday time! Nothing brings joy to our residents like a big red bow and a sloppy kiss from Fido.
We at Parkview wish you a blessed holiday season and are committed to doing all we can to make this a time of genuine celebration for your loved ones. We so look forward to your visit!
